Mesin handpress memungkinkan reproduksi buku dan dokumen dalam jumlah besar sehingga mempercepat penyebaran pengetahuan di Eropa dan dunia. Perangkat ini menjadi salah satu teknologi penting dalam sejarah komunikasi cetak sebelum munculnya mesin cetak mekanis modern.&#13;
